At Springhead Primary School, we offer a nurturing, stimulating and play‑rich Nursery provision where children feel safe, valued and excited to learn. Our environment is carefully designed to support children’s curiosity and confidence as they take their first steps in education.

Our Ethos and Environment

Our dedicated Early Years team provides a warm, family‑centred setting built on strong relationships and high expectations. We believe that the earliest years of education should be filled with curiosity, exploration and joy, laying strong foundations for lifelong learning and reflecting our school ethos of “Working Together to Achieve Our Best.”

Learning Through Play

Through carefully planned experiences, children are encouraged to investigate, create and problem‑solve. Learning takes place through meaningful play, both indoors and outdoors, supported and extended by skilled practitioners who know each child well.

Nursery Entry

Children attend Nursery from the term after their third birthday and quickly become part of the Springhead family. We support children and families through this important transition, helping every child feel secure and settled. Our 'Nursery offer' is detailed below.

Nursery Offer

Session Times (15 hour place)

Session times are either 8.45am until 11.45am, or 12.15pm until 3.15pm, Monday to Friday. These are universal hours as all nursery-age children are entitled to 15 hours of free childcare per week.

Full-Time (32.5 hour place)
Some parents may choose for their child to access a full-time place (8.45am until 3.15pm) at an additional cost, or they may be eligible for an additional 15 hours free childcare per week, over and above the 15 universal hours that all nursery-aged children are entitled to.

All parents of children accessing a full-time place (8.45am until 3.15pm) will incur an additional cost for lunchtime provision (11.45am until 12.15pm). This can also be booked by parents of children attending on a part-time basis, should they wish to do so.

Parents eligible for 30 hours of free childcare who do not wish to incur the additional cost for lunchtime provision (11.45am–12.15pm)should be aware that this means their child will not attend the Friday afternoon Nursery session.
