This information is provided to give clarity and transparency to pupils and parents/carers about what to expect from remote education at Springhead Primary School.
Attendance Expectations
All pupils are expected to attend school in line with our Attendance Policy. Remote education is not considered an equal alternative to in-school attendance.
When Remote Education May Be Provided
We will only consider remote education in circumstances where attending school in person is not possible or goes against government guidance.
This may include:
Whole School Closures
- When it is not possible to open the school safely
- When opening would contradict local or national government guidance
Individual Circumstances (Short-Term)
Where a pupil is unable to attend school but can continue learning, for example:
- Due to an infectious illness
- Preparing for or recovering from an operation
- Recovering from an injury where attendance may delay recovery
- Where attendance is impacted by special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) or a mental health need
All decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis by the Headteacher and SENDCo.
How Remote Education Will Be Managed
Where remote education is agreed, we will:
- Work in partnership with parents/carers, pupils, and (where appropriate) medical professionals
- Involve the Local Authority where a pupil has an EHCP or social worker
- Set clear arrangements for regular review
- Plan for the pupil’s reintegration into school as soon as possible
- Identify additional support or flexibility needed
- Agree a time-limited plan to support a return to in-person education
Access to Remote Learning
We recognise that some families may have limited access to technology. Where possible, the school will offer advice and support to help pupils access learning at home.
Devices and Internet Access
Parents/carers should contact the School Office if they require support with access to a device. We will provide guidance or support where possible.
Printed Learning Materials
Where online access is not available, parents/carers should contact the School Office. In some cases, the school may be able to provide paper-based learning.
Support for Pupils with Additional Needs
We understand that some pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), may need additional support to access remote learning.
Where appropriate, the school will take individual circumstances into account and work with parents/carers to identify practical ways to support learning at home. This may include:
- Providing adapted activities
- Offering guidance to families
- Maintaining appropriate contact with pupils
We will also consider any existing support plans and, where possible, liaise with external professionals or services to ensure a consistent approach.
Our aim is to provide a supportive and flexible
