What is a Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA)?

Most schools have a PTA, and at Springhead we are proud to include not only parents and staff, but also friends of the school. This is why we are known as the PTFA – Parent, Teacher and Friends Association.

The PTFA is a group of parents, carers, staff and supporters whose shared aim is to strengthen links between home and school. While fundraising is an important part of what we do, we also organise enjoyable events and activities that help families feel connected and involved in school life. These occasions bring pupils, families and staff together and contribute to the warm, community‑centred ethos of Springhead

How is the PTFA organised?

All parents, carers and school staff automatically become members of the PTFA. Each year, the committee is made up of volunteers who take on key roles such as chair, vice‑chair and treasurer. This team works together throughout the year to plan events, support school initiatives and encourage wider involvement from the school community.

The PTFA always welcomes additional volunteers—whether as occasional helpers, event organisers or supporters who simply share ideas and enthusiasm.

How can you be involved in our PTFA?

There are many ways to get involved, whether you have plenty of time or just a little to spare. You might:

  • Help run a stall or activity at an event
  • Offer occasional support at an event, such as setting up or clearing away
  • Donate items that we can sell at events
  • Share fundraising ideas
  • Simply attend PTFA events and enjoy being part of our school community

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps the PTFA continue its valuable work.

How is money raised?

The PTFA raises funds through a variety of enjoyable events across the school year. Recent fundraising has supported the school by enabling the purchase of:

  • Playground and play equipment
  • Reading books
  • Staging
  • Coach travel for theatre visits
  • Leavers’ presents

The PTFA is always looking for more volunteers to support events and help generate new fundraising ideas, so please contact the school office if you think you can help.
